AFS Joins California Fitness Alliance; Josh Leve Named to Advisory Board

‘Helping Fitness Businesses Restart Safely’

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, FRANCISCO, CA, June 25, 2020)  – The Association of Fitness Studios (AFS) and the California Fitness Alliance (CFA) today announced that AFS has joined CFA to actively participate in and promote the CFA mission and vision to help fitness businesses of all types reopen safely.

California Fitness Alliance was created to help give fitness professionals a strong unified voice. All fitness business stakeholders share a passion for helping people, for making our communities healthier, and in this complicated time of COVID-19, we want to work together to continue to keep our state healthy.

“We totally support the CFA mission and I’m especially honored and proud to have been named to the CFA Advisory Board,” said Josh Leve, AFS founder and CEO.  “Organizationally and personally, we look forward to doing everything we can to promote CFA and its mission and vision.”

During the COVID-19 crisis, the CFA has three primary objectives:

  • REOPENING - Partner with state and local officials to set and define safe, effective reopening standards and guidelines.
  • RELIEF - Seek federal and state aid and relief for the fitness industry, severely impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • RECOVERY - Make it easy for all members of our community to join their local club, studio, or gym by advocating for membership dues as an approved pre-tax health benefit.

CFA has successfully collaborated with Governor Newsom and his team to develop and issue official CA Fitness Reopening Guidelines, approved by the California Governor Newsom’s office, the California Department of Public Health, and Cal/OHSA to provide guidance for fitness facilities to support a safe, clean environment for workers.

“Collaboration to increase awareness of the essential role of fitness is a key priority of the Alliance. We are thrilled to have Josh join our board to accelerate our goals,” says Francesca Schuler, advisory board member.
