Kevin Steele Joins AFS Advisory Council

(CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, November 8, 2015) – The Association of Fitness Studios (AFS) today proudly announced the addition of fitness industry veteran Dr. Kevin Steele to the AFS Advisory Council.

Dr. Steele, one of the fitness industry’s personal training programming pioneers, has had tours of duty with some of the most iconic brands in fitness including Health & Tennis Corporation of America, Lifetime Fitness, Mad Dogg Athletics, and 24 Hour Fitness. 

Through his various roles with these fitness companies, Dr. Steele has created fitness education platforms, personal training departments, corporate universities, established relationships with numerous health care providers, established corporate sales programs, participated in government relations/public policy initiatives, and coordinated numerous sponsorships with professional sports teams, and the U.S. Olympic Committee just to name a few.

“Kevin Steele is one of the brilliant thinkers in our industry,” said AFS CEO Josh Leve.  “He brings practical, hands on experience in a variety of disciplines and his willingness to share his ideas and expertise make him an ideal candidate for our Adivsory Council.”

Dr. Steele’s also has significant experience with AFS, having been an invited expert at several AFS-hosted business education events including Evolution Sports Expo and Club Industry earlier this year.

“I’m honored to be selected and I’m thrilled to serve on AFS’s Advisory Council,” he said.  “I’ve proudly participated in AFS’s emergence as representative and educator of the studio market – effectively addressing an important industry need.  I’m happy to help wherever I can.”

Dr. Steele received his Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine/Physical Education from Pepperdine University and his Ph.D. in Physiology with an emphasis in Exercise and Nutrition from Columbia University in New York City.  He currently resides in Malibu, CA.
