As I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, 2020 was a tough year for all fitness businesses and the latest numbers show about 30% of gyms have permanently shut down.

The good news is, I’ve personally seen a big bounce back in in-person training at the gyms I own. And our numbers have started to return to normal since the beginning of 2021. Today, I want to share three ways you can grow your business in 2021.

Summer is here, and that means our clients are away on vacation--rather than going into the gym or keeping those personal training appointments. Unfortunately, that also means paused memberships and trainers who we’re paying...but who aren’t actually bringing in revenue.

This on top of things just starting to get back to some sort of normal after COVID.

Once again the trends in the Fitness Industry have taken market analysts by surprise. Two big opportunities have surfaced in March and April and now are commanding a good share of the fitness market. The first is Digital Fitness and the second is Garage Gyms.

Bernhard Mehl, an entrepreneurial coach and ergonomics engineer, in a recent article on KISIblog, says that after COVID appeared, the fitness industry, and especially location-based businesses, dropped as much as 10 billion in the year following the onset of the pandemic.

It’s probably fair to say that we have never appreciated our open spaces more than over the past year, due to the restrictions caused by COVID-19. With so much time being spent in our homes, heading to the park for example for a walk or a run has been incredibly beneficial for us mentally and physically.
